Interview with Mr. Romano

Nimrath: This is Nimrath and Aairah reporting for Panther Press! Here we have Mr. Romano, with an interview. So, is this your first interview? It is ours!

Mr. Romano: No, I did an interview last year with a boy from Panther Press, so I have some experience with it.

Aairah: You teach math, so what was your favorite subject in 6th grade?

Mr. Romano: Well, I’m gonna say.. Probably social studies, I still like history.. But, you know, it’s something that I learned on my own, it’s obviously not something that I teach.

Nimrath: So, what or who inspired you to become a teacher?

Mr. Romano: I wouldn’t say one person who inspired me, I knew that I wanted to get into a career where I had an ability to make a difference and get a lot of job satisfaction. And that’s where it kind of pushed me to being a teacher.

Aairah: So, was your first job choice being a teacher, or when you were younger you wanted to become another profession?

Mr. Romano: When I was younger, it would be something to do with sports, like a sports announcer, or working for a sports team, and then when I actually went to college, I went to school for business and I worked in finance for 3 years before switching to education.

Nimrath: Where would your dream vacation be?

Mr. Romano: Probably somewhere tropical, there’s a number of places, whether it’s Hawaii or the Caribbean, I really just think, it doesn’t get better than those kind of places.

Aairah: Do you have any hobbies- do you cook or anything like that?

Mr. Romano: Yes, I do like to cook. I like to cook Italian food, soups, stews, Mexican food. Other hobbies include playing basketball, watching sports, photography, so yes, I do like other stuff.

Aairah: Do you have a best dish that you can make? For example, you can make this dish really well, better than your other dishes.

Mr. Romano: I’d say, eggplant parmesan. It comes out pretty good, with my mom’s recipe.

Nimrath: Do you have a secret ingredient for it?

Mr. Romano: I can’t say I do, it’s pretty standard, with tomato sauce, cheese, and eggplant that’s spreaded, so, I think it’s pretty simple.
Aairah: So, since you teach math, do you have any favorite mathematicians?

Mr. Romano: I would favor more towards business-oriented people that apply math to what they do. People like Warren Buffett, who’s a famous investor, uses math in calculating what investments are good and how grow your money.

Aairah: So like a finance related math?

Mr. Romano: Yes, yes, absolutely.

Nimrath: Do you have any advice for your students?

Mr. Romano: I think the one piece of advice that never fails to work is try your hardest and to never give up, and work your hardest, you’re going to overcome any deficiencies that everybody has in some area, and it’s going to lead to a lot of success.

Aairah: Do you like art?

Mr. Romano: Art is appealing, I haven’t gotten into art. I did take a pottery class which was a lot of fun, and, Ms. Garcia, our art teacher last year had us paint, made the teacher’s paint.. During Professional Development Activity, and I found a lot of enjoyment in that, so I’m really into art, and I find it to be an appealing area… so, yes, in addition to cooking, photography, I know this is not a hobby, but I like to learn and find out about new things and how the world works, so yes!

Nimrath and Aairah: Thank you for your time! It was a pleasure talking to you!

Mr. Romano: Thank you for your time also!
