The cars honk, and the light turns green. The coffee steams. She parks the car in the last open space. The other teachers greet her. It is just another day at work. But for Dr.Lott, it isn’t just another day at ''work.'' It is another opportunity to teach kids how to live a successful life in this world.

Dr. Lott is an 8th grade math teacher at IMS. She has been teaching for 4 years now. She discussed, "When I was little, I wanted to be a journalist, but once I got to middle school, I recognized that I wasn’t good at English. During high school, I realized that I love math. I wanted to become a math teacher. Math became my favorite subject in 10th grade, even though I wasn’t in honors.”

Dr.Lott loves her job because she gets to interact with people. She wants to teach students how to enjoy what they do.  She likes working at IMS also because of the staff and students. Also, to people who are wondering why she is Dr., it is because she got a Doctorate in Education in May 2016. She started out teaching 6th grade, but then she got transferred to 8th grade. She likes teaching 8th grade because she can talk about more mature things.

Dr. Lott loves math. If we had to talk about how much she loves math, we’d be talking till we’re 97 years old! But here are some reasons; Every math problem only has one right answer. Dr. Lott explained, “You may never use math equations in your life, but the problem solving part will help you in the future.” Her favorite section of math is algebra.

Dr. Lott said that her mom is an inspirational woman to her. If she had to change her career, she would choose to be a guidance counselor because she wants to help people. She said, “I want to be one of those teachers students will never forget. I want to make an impact in their lives.”
