Drama Club

Akshara - Hi Mr.T we are to interview about drama club.
Akshara - So, we were wondering what drama club really is...
Mr. T - Well the drama club is a auditioned group of students who come together and get to act in a play and this year the play we are putting together is called “The Internet is Distract...Oh Look a Kitten” by Ian Mcwethy.
Harshita - Another question we have in mind is how long this club has been going on and when it meets up and how long it takes to put together a play
Mr. T - The club has been going on for the past 3 years meeting up usually on Thursdays. Due to having lack of meetings it usually takes us 5-6 months at top
Akshara- That’s great. Another question we wanted to know was the number of spots that are usually open for a play.
Mr. T- the number of spots are usually depends on the roles in the play. Like for example this year we have 16 spots open
Harshita - So Mr.T how do you choose who is perfect for a role and what do you look for in a actor.
Mr. T - We basically start off with a first audition where anyone can try out, they have to read a monologue . Then there is a call back if you get selected. We select the actors based on four categories.
Voice projection
Acting abilities
Clear pronunciation
And stage presence

Akshara - Since we were lead toward the part about plays and all how do you choose a play.
Mr. T- The plays are chosen by me and Mrs. Albers. We sit down and examine plays that modern day teens such as you guys would like based on: the amount of laughter it would give, roles that are equipped in the play, and we make sure it is simple, but not too simple.
Harshita - What do students have to do at home in order for you guys to be ready by the time you guys want to air it?
Mr. T - The students must take the the scripts they were given home everyday, practice it by learning their lines and memorizing it ready for the next part of the play.
Akshara - We know that a play usually needs costumes so how do you obtain the costumes needed for a certain play?
Mr. T - It all depends on the students and their parents’ cooperation. The students can either go out and buy a costume that suits along with the play or find costumes they might have already used before and use it for the play.
Harshita- our last question is...What kinds of benefits do we get if we join this club?
Mr. T- That actually a great question I was meaning to tell you guys. The club teaches the students self confidence and theatre a very important type of art. This club also teaches about hard work, teamwork and responsibility.
Akshara & Harshita-Thank you Mr.T for your time.
