No more unexpected deaths. No more crime. No more injuries. No more predictions because it's the 23rd century and here we roll according to facts. After being overlooked for too long the once treacherous and crime filled city of Reno, Nevada has risen above all with its technology and the master minds behind the gadgets. Reno was a beautiful city which was visited by many. People believed the beautiful Lake Tahoe and Sierra Mountains attracted tourists, but it turned out many came for thrill at the casinos which were cheaper than Las Vegas. Over time, tourists stopped visiting Reno due to its abundant grey and brownfields. Some even started to call it a ghetto. At that moment, the founders of Solar Utopia realized the need of a new city where crimes, pollution, and injuries didn’t exist.
Solar Utopia is one of the most successful cities in the 23rd century with 5 million residents along with the thousands of visitors per year. The climate is the same all year round except for winter when most of the precipitation occurs. This city is divided into two sections to keep the city organized. The residential/commercial consists of houses as well as all the shops and stores for the residents. Our residential buildings are tall skyscrapers capable of housing anywhere from 100-1000 units in each. Our commercial buildings are smaller, but are able to incorporate four shops on each level of the building. On the other side of our city, is our industrial section. This includes buildings like the city’s Power Tower- which run on solar power with lots of advanced solar panels allowing us to generate pollution free power, thermal energy, and nuclear fusion energy. The city’s water facility, sewage treatment facility, trash collection system, trading depots, etc. are also be in this section, along with the industrial buildings. Our city is made up of shades of the colors- silver, blue, and white, which we believe to be the colors of future. The city transports on- four hyperloop trains, they to each corner of the city, and one big hyperloop train station in the middle, along with one train stop at each block of the city.
The education is free, even college so everyone has the same opportunity. The city has 80 grade schools (40 elementary schools, 40 middle schools), and 40 high schools that are spread throughout the city. There are four large hospitals that have the capacity to treat 1000 patients each day and 36 small hospitals. These hospitals have the best doctors in the country, and these doctors are provided with the most advanced technology in the world to benefit our citizens. There are 40 fire departments and 40 police departments, each one is beside a hospital for any situation when all three are required to go to the same place. Ambulance copters are provided instead of ambulance cars, fire planes instead of fire trucks, and robot police drones that patrol instead of police officers. The city also has 40 large parks/public spaces for tourists and residents to hangout and visit.
Reno’s biggest problem was that it had limited public spaces which many couldn't access. The city’s grey and brownfields kept expanding with no way to fix the problems. Solar Utopia had a solution. The founders of the city were types of engineers and NGO workers who wanted a pollution free city where everyone can feel safe, so in order to achieve the goal, they built the best technology and wiped out radiation and decontaminated the area. Today these places are five-star restaurants, arcades, and a hangout for every age. Over 300 deaths in Reno were the cause of car accidents, which is why the city moved the roadways underground which are to only use when travelling in or out of the city. Today you can walk, bike, skate freely on the roads which are turned into sport centers. No place in the city is left alone, every place is transformed to fulfill the needs of the citizens. The city has made alleys into community swimming pools and open movie theatres. Some greyfields have been transformed back into plazas, while others are turned into parks. Public spaces played a big role in changing this city. People can enjoy and interact with each other. They can get everyday basic supplies without having to travel far. Now they are able to stay fit by having the right sport center in the area. But, the most important role public spaces played in Solar Utopia is that it lowered crime rates because our citizens can take a break and just relax
Over a century ago many believed technology only played a negative role in people’s lives, but we, the people of 23rd century have proved that anything negative can be converted into positive if one desires to do so. A city where residents live in skyscrapers, residents shop in skyscrapers, and residents work in skyscrapers must run on efficient utilities. And, that’s how it is in Solar Utopia. The city runs on nuclear fusion and geothermal energy. The process of splitting atoms, combining them with magnets, and turning it into energy similar to the sun helps prevent pollution and keep the city safe. Which is why the city called in the best civil and environmental engineers along with electricians who worked together to create an energy source which powers the residential, commercial, and municipal buildings in Solar Utopia. To power the industrial zone along with water distribution, heat from Earth’s mantle is used to create geothermal energy. Solar Utopia never used the third energy source, but it does have mega solar panel in the industrial area as a backup. Residential buildings are also encouraged to install high tech rooftop solar panels which are capable of powering a 10 story building for 40 days straight. The city’s main transportation system is hyperloop trains that travels at the speed of 750 mph, faster than 21st century’s planes. Every street is connected to hyperloop train stations which travel all over the city eliminating need to use cars, but cars can still be driven, only underground.
Technology is used throughout the city in variety of ways, from food distribution, to transportation, to having an economy run off of it.The once considered something out of science fiction, the city of Solar Utopia’s main economy runs by building and trading the Holo Pads. Holo Pads are today’s smart phones, but instead of only video and audio, a 3D hologram appears. Each of our citizen have Holo Pads on which they’re schedule of sleep, work, and meals is provided by the government. Solar Utopia happens to be the home of many geniuses and because of them it’s the only city in the world who has managed to build 3D interactive video calls. And since it’s the only city , the rest of the world has a very high demand for them. We export Holo Pads and import food capsules. Some of our residents don’t have much time to sit down and eat an entire meal, so we provide them with meal in a capsule which saves time.
Solar Utopia is a city of opportunities. It’s the only place where same opportunities are provided to everyone, only depends how one choose to build upon them. The city provides the best of education to our citizens and assign them their vocation place according to one’s talents. No one in Solar Utopia is unemployed or homeless. As for the matter of public spaces, our city keeps them in mind the most. A well educated and healthy city is always in need for leisure centers. Public spaces including movie theatres, parks, restaurants, and even just a simple blacktop where one can use its imagination are all over the city. Since our citizens use hyperloop trains and cars are underground, the streets are filled with cafes, and alleys which has sport fields. We encourage arts for which many of our public spaces are opera houses, and art centers. We’re a community built upon the basis of democracy and public opinion, their needs, and comfort is the most important.
From stone ages, to Renaissance, to the 21st century, to now, humans have always been evolving. Similarly the style of technology has also been transforming to fit the needs of the people of the society. But, one thing most societies even now forgets is opinion of the public, and their needs matter the most for which public spaces are the most important part of any healthy and friendly town. A town where people wish to live in, where people feel safe, and where one can feel at home is the best and that best city is Solar Utopia.
